La Amistad, south of San Vito:
It is five to six hours’ drive on good road from San Jose, Costa Rica, and two hours from David, Panama. We are one hour from the Panamanian resort of Volcán-Bambito and the Wilson (Las Cruces) Botanical Garden in Costa Rica, as well as two hours from Golfito, the entryway to Corcovado National Park and the Osa Peninsula
The land is divided into small areas for coffee growing and organic agriculture, with 95% of the land dedicated to conservation and ecotourism. The coffee plantations are interspersed among patches of forest, rivers, springs and waterfalls.

La Amistad Reserve is considered by many to be one of the most extraordinary forests in all of Costa Rica. It is home to quetzals, jaguars, monkeys, tapirs and more than 400 species of birds. Some of the world’s rarest butterflies are found here, as well as Costa Rica’s only species of nocturnal monkey. The forest ranges from premontane rainforest through alpine paramo.

Savegre lodge, Cloud forest of Santa Maria de Dota ( 2 hours from San Jose)
Savegre Mountain lodge Private Biological Reserve is located in the environs of the Cerro de la Muerte in the Talamanca Mountain Range. It consists of Cloud Forest with elevations varying between 1,220 and 2,560 meters above sea level.

The annual rainfall is 2550 millimeters and the temperature vary between -2.2 and 26 degrees centigrade (28 to 82 degrees Fahrenheit). The relative humidity is 70% year-round.




Caño Negro Wetlands in Costa Rica,  Los Chiles ( north from La Fortuna)
These amazing wetlands are located in the northern zone of Costa Rica, close to the small village of Los Chiles in the Province of Alajuela. Caño Negro is mainly conformed by the Caño Negro Lagoon and the Rio Frio. It has an extension of 9960 Hs., and it is one of the most important biological areas of the country (4th on earth). Caño Negro Wildlife Refuge was declared “Wild Life Area of International Importance” in 1991.


Leaving from San Jose Down Town take the road to the airport, from the air terminal take opposites to the city and a few miles later see for Naranjo sing. Them to Ciudad Quesada, after this to Florencia, to Muelle. Folow by a long strait road. Look for Los Chiles (north) and 4.5 miles (7 kms) before Los Chiles you will see a sing to CAÑO NEGRO. take that road on your left hand side for about 20 minutes more till you get the village.

The Caño Negro National Wild Life Refuge is conformed by the Caño Negro Lagoon, some other and the Rio Frio. It has an extension of 900 Hs., is one of the most important biological area of the country (4th on earth) and was declared Wild Life Area of International importance in 1991.
Is the best ecological site in Costa Rica with the emerald basilisk, iguanas, river turtles, caimans as well as many others.

Bosques de Chachagua lodge

Chachagua rain forest hotel is nestled in the eastern foothills of the Tilaran mountain range, one of the most biologically diverse areas in all Costa Rica, following you may find the ways to get here!
You may take to road to Alajuela, turn right to go through the town of San Ramón, look for the small town of La Balsa, after this one go to La Tigra, from La Tigra go straight to Chachagua.

Chachagua Rainforest
The climate of the zone is the typical of the tropical rain forest, ideal for a great diversity of flora and fauna. Chachagua Rain Forest Hotel is surrounded by trails where the visitor can appreciate the great variety of species of birds such as the blue-gray tanager, the passerinii, red-legged honey-creeper, white-crowned flycatcher, these among other one hundred species. Amongst the mammals of the area, you can find the northern raccoon, the white nosed coati, the howler monkey and larger species such as the ocelot, the jaguar and two species of sloths

La Cusinga Lodge ,Bahia Ballena de osa, south pacific

Vista Golfo de Miramar :
Located 14km from the Panamerican Highway halfway between Guanacaste and San José, Finca Daniel is ideal for a day trip and long term visitors as well. The Finca is easily accessed by tarmac road and nestles in the small community of Tajo Alto / Miramar high up in the mountains and yet within view of the Gulf of Nicoya.
By horse (or car) you will meander up the mountain from 700 to 1500 m (4500 feet) with breathtaking views of the gulf and surrounding virgin Cloud forest.
