Eco friendly ideas
You can make a difference when you travel, it’s your choice to be pro-active when it comes to the environment and what better time to start than when you are in Costa Rica.

The number of tourists visiting Costa Rica increases every year and with so many visitors, Costa Rica has made many efforts to minimize the impact that large numbers of people have on the environment. Due to Costa Rica's natural beauty and biodiversity, tourists as well as local people benefit when they make an effort to respect and preserve the resources of Costa Rica.

There are a few easy things that you can do to reduce your impact during your visit, and actually participate in one of the many programs available to support the environment.

1. Look for local hotels and lodges that house a smaller number of guests.
These use fewer resources than large-scale hotels and resorts. You will have better contact with the local community this way.

2. Considering staying at the hotels that are pro-sustainable tourism.
The Certification in Sustainable Tourism Program - CST - is product of the Costa Rican Tourism Institute (ICT). CST was designed to differentiate tourism sector businesses based on the degree to which they comply with a sustainable model of natural, cultural and social resource management.

3. Take care and conserve resources like power and water during your stay.
For example, turn off the lights and air conditioning when not in a room.

4. Hire local tour guides before entering the rain forest rather than hiking in on your own.
The use of local guides ensures that tourists are aware of the regulations in National Parks and obey the rules while in the wilderness. If you do a self-guided hike, make sure that the trail is well marked to avoid stepping off it.

5. Ask local travel guides for travel assistance rather than booking a tour with an international corporation.
We can identify the best areas and properties for you to have a real natural experience. Tours or other activities that specifically educate visitors about environmental concerns or the local habitat are generally good choices for ecotourism.

Help the environment using degradable plastic bottles!!!
A new project is developed for helping the conservation of the environment. Pura Vida Project is making degradable bottles that you can buy and use for your trip and then let them degradable and help the world.

How does it work?

The degradation process commences with any combination of heat, light and stresses acting as catalysts and affecting the speed with which it progresses. Conversely, d2w™ additive can be added to recycled plastics and will cause them to become degradable!

The compostable version of this technology is engineered to completely degrade between 60 to 90 days in an in-vessel commercial compost environment. Totally degradable plastics will degrade harmlessly ultimately leaving only H2O, CO2 and biomass in negligible quantities. Tests have proven the materials to be safe for direct food contact and to have no harmful effect whatsoever when they ultimately degrade in or on the ground.

To have a friendly environmental experience, you can talk to us, we care about our people, our planet, our wildlife and we would like you to have a nature experience and learn more to be able to become part of this great effort of supporting
